Nicholas teaches cello at a variety of levels, including beginning strings, advanced high schoolers, adult amateur players, and collegiate chamber ensembles. A member of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), he has taught at institutions including Philips Academy Andover, Point CounterPoint - Prelude, Walden School Creative Musician Retreat, and Rose Conservatory.

His goals as a teacher include:

Developing body awareness and mindfulness as foundations for expressive and efficient playing.

Encouraging students to develop and expand their own musical voice.

Building individual technical skills for confident performance.

Helping musicians develop curiosity and problem-solving skills.
